Never too old to join a new forum. The wife and I just picked up a 1990 G20 Mark III Conversion to replace our 2005 Astro Van. Will be used for cross country road trips and camping. It doesn't fit in the garage so it gets stored in the backyard so not much will be done until the spring. Will use the winter to collect maintenance (and maybe some performance) parts to replace on the 350. I am also deep into the what seems to be the futile exercise of researching how to lift it a few inches.

The interior is still in mint condition, however the carpet has faded to some weird green color. That whitesh carpet around the doghouse used to be brown. The plan is to remove seats and build a bed and storage, nothing too crazy since we want to keep it a little more minimalist. We were backpackers before van campers and we still pack for our road trips that way. Want to replace the carpet, reuse the wall and roof panels as much as possible.

Which leads to my first question, but then this starts to turn into a build thread, and I assume that needs to be in the General forum.

It goes into "Readers Rides" 1 section down ... NICE RIDE ! ! I leave it with the exception of removing the middle seats for a spacious living room and a throw rug ... a recarpet is a major over haul to do. Dog house cover comes off and easy to recarpet. I would put a swivel on the pass seat to turn around to the living room.

Anyway this a nice ride just the way it is .... congrats !

I'll probably tear the doghouse carpet out, clean and shine it up and put back without any carpet. I like the brown plastic throughout.

Already have an extra swivel that will go on the passenger seat; that is a must for sure. This van is exclusively a camper van now so there will be some work done, but hoping to do it in a way that matches the existing look and wood trim.

However, I hate how the carpeted door panels have also faded, so will do something with those too. I love the look of the dark wood grained vinyl panels from other vans.
