Last year I got a "new" van. It is a 1995 Ford E-150 conversion van that was converted by LA West conversions. For those not familiar with LA West conversions, they were a very high end conversion company. So high end that they used custom built seats custom embroidered and upholstered in leather.
I don't do leather seats, and shortly after I bought this van I lucked out and found a nice set of seats and a bench/bed in a van in a junkyard.
So now I have four captains chairs and a tri-fold bench seat upholstered in leather and fabric taking up room in my storage unit. I want to get the room back in the storage unit, so I am selling all the seats and the bench.
Seats are light tan with light rose or pink colored accents. Captains chairs have "LA West" embroidered on the headrests.
When I got the van I had the interior profesionally detailed and then I spent a weekend cleaning the seats myself. Because I have allergies and I am paranoid, I cleaned the seats with a cleaner I got at a janitorial supply store that uses enzymes to kill the bacteria that make smells. My point is the seats are very clean.
The seats are comfy, but a touch too small for me (I am a big guy) and I don't like leather seats in a van.
Good part: No holes, foam still good, only very minor signs of wear. These are four very nice captains chairs. Buying new comparable chairs would cost about $900 per chair. They recline, they are high back, they have side bolsters to keep you in place when you go fast around corners. No bases, but I think I have sliding tracks for them all. The bench is a tri-fold, which you can't buy anymore. Folds down into a queen size bed. There is a fold down drink tray in the middle panel, too.
Bad part: Seats have been in storage for about a year. Leather is wrinkly but will puff back out. The bench seat was missing its motor when I got the van. I don't know why, but a prior owner removed the motor and cables. These can be replaced from another junked conversion van, and the bench can be folded and unfolded maually.. Minor stain on the rearmost panel, but nothing bad.
Obviously, shipping is out of the question. That bench seat and frame is freaking heavy. However, the bench is a touch narrower than older benches, so it should fit in just about any van. The color is nice and will go with lots of interior colors.
The attached pictures were taken on Dec. 6, 2020, so this is the current state of the seats. I only took pictures of two of the captains chairs, but they all look like that one.
Price? I am open to offers. I really want the space back in storage and I just have no use for the seats. This is a great opportunity for someone to get some really nice seats for their van for a really good price. If you are interested in some tan seats and can meet me at my storage unit in Tacoma, WA to pick them up, we can make a deal.
Thanks. I checked shop4seats.com and the most comparable seats I could find cost $700 for the captain's chairs and $1100 for a bench and extender like the bench I am selling. These are used and 25 years old so I am not asking top dollar, but this is a great opportunity. I have an asking price of $700 obo on Craigslist, but I would make a deal for a fellow Vanner. Again, not trying to get top dollar, just trying to get my storage space back.
Me, too. C'mon Tacoma area vanners. I mean it when I say I really just want the space back in my storage unit and i am willing to make a deal for a vanner. These are nice seats, someone should be using them.
OK, I showed the seats to one potential buyer today. I forgot that the driver's seat was dirty and had a couple failed seams in the leather. So there are really only three good captains chairs and one that needs a bit of work. The bench seat also has a mystery stain that I don't know what it is. It isn't wet, it is on the leather, so I don't know if it can be cleaned or not. There is also a bit of dirt on one side of the bench seat since it has been in storage for a year.
If you want these seats and tell me you saw the ad on Vanning.com I will give you all five seats free. I really just want my storage space back. But you still have to pick them up in Tacoma.
