| | | New Exhaust Manifold has A.I.R. ports | Joined: Oct 2020 Posts: 17 stranger | OP stranger Joined: Oct 2020 Posts: 17 | My 1977 B100 has a broken exhaust manifold from PO. No biggie I thought. Found new one at auto parts store. Took old one off (after cussing the exhaust flange bolts) and went to put new one only to realize the new one has AIR channel through it. i.e. a channel w/ an threaded open end on each end of the manifold which also ports to just right about the openings in the manifold. My existing manfold had dimples in the cast iron where those ports should be but was still solid. I've scoured the internet for hours trying to find my exact exhaust manifold w/o those AIR ports but can't find anything new. Question is can I screw in a plug on either end & cap it off & still use it? Or is it just going to blow coolant everyhwere? They actually don't do anything on mine, I thought they'd blow out air but they didn't. Still plugged them bc I didn't think water / debris needed to get in them. There was a small 5/16" bolt hole though that definitely shot hot air out of it. I plugged that though & all is good. I still used the gaskets that came with it as I couldn't track down the gasket that didn't have holes in it. Seems to be fine though.
