So, although this thread diverted to a CA discussion I thought I would update on the USA made $60 AC Delco idler arms. They lasted TWO YEARS! Disappointing considering the ones that were $30 cheaper lasted 7 years.

Ah well.... the parts saga continues.

CatFish... so true. Yesterday we took her to our friend to pull out and hold the refrigerant so that we could replace the reman AC compressor that had been making noise after only a couple of months. Our girl loves to visit Adam by the way. We got there and she wouldn't act up at all! Just like taking a kid to the doctor. And, every holiday we have to buy her something!

Frscke... I have no idea. We have been trying to figure that out. We just replaced the rotors because we tracked things backwards and discovered that the ones we put on four years ago have been eating bearings every 10,000 miles or so. Although it could have been the races we decided to just start fresh, new rotors, races and bearings. We will hit the road again soon and hope that everything will hold as expected this time. The only common denominator we could find was the rotor / bearing issue as the repeated problems. Prior to putting those rotors on parts were lasting as expected (first idler arms lasted well over 100,000 miles).

So, fingers crossed we did discover the actual causal factor. Either way, we've now got a combination model of the two types we have used.

We are off for a two day test run on everything before deciding that we are good to hit the road again.
