I found a shop in Nevada that will chrome a bumper for $400. I'd rather drive an hour and a half to chrome two bumpers and four door handles for the cost of one bumper in California. figure while they are off, I'll sand rust off the underside and clean the chassis up a bit. It isn't bad but where the bumpers mount is full of mud and some surface rust. I'm really looking forward to getting this started. I will finally be able to bring a hauler to the swaps.

The van is looking great; and as usual you come up with the deal for the chrome. | | | Re: 1969 Econoline Shorty | Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 1,510 Likes: 172 Master Yard Rat | OP Master Yard Rat Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 1,510 Likes: 172 | Well, that's it. I have it mostly stripped down with the exception of a door handle and lock to make sure it is secured over nights. It is ready to start the body and paint. Now I play the waiting game. I have the problem areas marked for filling, rust repair, dents, and a part of the body that needs to be pulled out. A lot of filler, which is funny because the back side of a lot of these panels aren't bad from the inside.

Maybe a burgundy to match the van. Dang, Mickey. Why do you have to be right? I just found a really nice carpet for $1.19 a square foot. It is called Cabernet and would match the exterior perfectly. I am thinking black diamond doors and carpet the remainder of the interior. To order enough for the whole inside and to account for extra isn't bad. It is the wood costs that would kill me. So, I was searching a bit online and doing research here. I've got a lot of cutting of furring strips ahead of me this weekend, but I should be able to get a new foundation assembled this weekend for the walls and ceilings. I can't wait for this project to be almost done because the wait to cruise is killing me.

That color would look sweet in your van. Paint is always expensive ; but more challenging is finding the right painter. Nice work Charlie. | | | Re: 1969 Econoline Shorty | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,266 Likes: 43 old hand | old hand Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,266 Likes: 43 | Charlie - check out this carpet. https://shawfloors.com/flooring/carpet/details/mustang-sally-52500/tumbleweedI saw this installed in a few vans now. It's not high pile carpet but it has the multicolor, textured carpet that feels very 70s. I could see one of these colors in your van. I ordered the red one in a sample to look at, I'll post a photo here when I get the few I ordered
