I sent an inquiry about this van and asked for more pics and info. Does this seem like a realistic price for what looks like a fairly rust free van with under 100k miles but does have a dented front fender?

It seems reasonable, but there’s quite a lack of info and pictures. Those 4.9s are bulletproof. 5 digit odometer, without documentation It could be 181, or 281k. Visual Inspection and test drive can give you a better idea.

You're right about the odometer, and I'd planned to ask if there's proof of the mileage. If it's really a government vehicle, it could very well be the actual mileage. There were many old lower mileage government vehicles in use when I was in the Air Force. The older they got the less they were used but were retained as back up vehicles if needed. They also received regularly scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, filters and such whether needed or not. I know that's a lot of "ifs and maybes" but...

The Ford E vans where virtually the same from 1975 through 1991 with minor changes along the way. They probably got the 6 digit digital odometers in 1992 when the they where updated with a new body, dash, front suspension, etc.

Yeah, fleet vehicles can often have low miles and strict maintenance. But also can get beat on good and rack up lots of idle hours. Definitely eye catchers, and worth the look.

From what I can see it seems like a good price.
