Good morning van owners!

I purchased a 1979 Chevy G10 4.1 Liter In-line 6 on August 26, 2020, it was a wednesday 9:30 AM. The "chevy g10 250" was found in the hills of Escondido, Running Deer Drive, California to be exact. Almost sitting on top of a mountain, literally. The van had not been running in 20 years, it has yellow registration tags from 2000. I paid $1500 for the van.

I am really enjoying the restoration process, for the Chevy 79' G10 4.1 Liter In-Line 6 van, meeting many new people with a wide variety of skills. I decided to sign up for Vanning.com so I can meet some "Van" enthusiast who want to talk about vans. If you own a 1979 Chevy G10 5.7 Liter V8 please send me some pictures of your engine perch, eliwheeler@live.com. I want to swap my 1979 Chevy G10 4.1 Liter 250 motor for Chevy small block 350, but I am not sure how to bolt up the engine. The pictures will help me decide how to best attack this project. Plus any information on the 1979 Chevy G10 4.1 Liter engine or vehicle in general would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Eli

This town ain't big enough for the both of us

Thank you, how are you today? I like your Van(s), mostly interested in the "Serenity" 1985 Chevy G-20. Do you have the 4.1 Liter Inline 6 or the V8? Any chance you have photos of the engine mounts? smile Finding myself awake at night thinking about engine mount possibilities. smile

Thank you Charlie99909, how's it going for you today? I'm sitting at my desk, trying to work, but what I really want to do today is replace my gas tank in the 1979 Chevy G10 4.1 Liter In-line 6.

Is the tank in the G 10 rusted out or with holes rusted thru it ? If it is only rusty inside it could be cleaned out
(hot tanked if you can find a place that does that) Or pressure washed out and allowed to dry completely.

Then it could have a liquid liner poured into it and the interior completely coated and that allowed to dry so you will have a usable tank. I suggest getting the liquid liner that is suitable for gasoline that has alcohol in it.

If your tank doesn't have a drain plug you could get a welder to make one and braze it onto the tank after a hole is made for it. Then use the liquid liner. I would then paint the exterior of the tank with something like an epoxy
paint. Where I live Radiator Shops often do this as they by the stuff in gallon cans.
