Been a rough few months....Only getting to work 1 day a week on Out Of the Blue.... working 6 days sucks. Then for the last 2 months I have been dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck with constant level 7 or 8 pain down right shoulder and arm. But I'm one of those who pushes through the pain. Going to Chiropractor 3 times a week for the last 4 weeks has made a huge difference. The pain almost gone. Also over the summer the wife had to have an emergency heart valve replacement, almost lost her. Fortunately thanks to God, and top notch doctors, she's doing good. The setbacks, snags, all cause the regret factor to rise. I'm about the half way point. It's been the encouragement from others, my son and my wife, that keeps me going.
The more parts I try to swap from Blue (92) to Out Of The Blue, (an 89), the more issues come up. But I'm trudging through. Already had to modify the under dash mounting on the steering column to fit the 89, and the 92 column is 2 1/2" longer. But that was a bonus for me. I like the seat position back, and now the steering wheel is a more comfortable position for me. My son Adam was the "fabricator" on that. All fits. The wiring harness from Blue is in the dash of the 89 now, What a chore that was. I still need to get it all connected. I have to swap the under hood harness, but that is way easier than the dash swap. The hardest part on that is loosening the 4 bolts on the power booster so i can pull it forward about an inch to route the harness behind it ,like was done at the factory, then tighten the bolts back.
By the way, I need to locate another gauge cluster housing. The gauges work, but the mounting tabs on the housing, are all broken. Seems to be an all too common issue. Old dried out plastic parts. Know several others with the same problem. And all the ones I find at the salvage yards are broken. So if anyone knows of one in decent shape or has mounting suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
