Hello All,
I have been following this thread with great interest because I have the motor and trans out of my '77 B-200. The motor is getting rebuilt, and now is the time to decide whether to rebuild the 727 or go with the 518. The more I think bout wasting gas makes me want to do the swap. I appreciate the detail and the photos. I know what a pain it is to stop work and document, as well as editing the photos. I know I appreciate it, and most vanners out there do as well. That being said, If there are any others out there that have made the swap, I would appreciate photos of their fabricated transmission mount.
Thanks again.

Hi all
Wow! after a two year gap I am back, van has been sat the whole time just turning green and rusting (british weather takes it toll!) I got struck down with bowl cancer and had to have a big op, then had weeks and weeks of chemotherapy, then had to get fit again and not do anything strenuous - van work was out for sure! (its been a long long road) but been given the all clear and now have to be monitored

Add to this I was also going through a very nasty divorce at the same time and you can appreciate why the van has just sat there. However line drawn on all that and during the week I have been trying to get the van running so I could get it moved to my new place and resume where I left off.

The fuel transfer pipe on my holley 4160 was leaking both ends when I tried to start the van, both rubber 'O' rings had perished so I sourced one of the new style pipes with the larger plug type rubbers, fitted it and the van sprung into life and sounded great!

Having it sitting there has not helped it at all, when I tried to move it the brakes were jammed on but it was parked on a hill so I put it in reverse and drove back and they came free straight away but when I pressed the pedal to stop the pedal just went down and stayed there. Had to lift it up with my foot, so I now have brake issues, there's fluid in the reservoir but I am thinking the master cylinder may have gone, seals gone possibly?

Any thoughts on how to establish which bit has gone, is there testing I can conduct???????

The GOOD NEWS is the van went into drive and reverse really smoothly and drove beautifully all be it just manoervering back and forward to allow me to get into position to get winched onto the transporter. So it appears the swap has worked I am so pleased about that but need to get the brakes done then test how it changes up and down the transmission but need brakes first!
Gutted that my thread was going so well then it appeared to just cease, but back now and fit again so I can hopefully continue as so sad seeing the state the van has deteriorated into - but I will resurrect it for sure!

3pinplug,

Quite enough adversity there, glad to hear that you are on the mend. Van Therapy is the best!

Some day, Ex-Wife will have a nice ring to it too.

Pedal to the metal there eh! Cheers!
