Looking at my options here since I am finding more cut wires and wire nuts from the previous owner. Does anyone know the best option for complete wiring harnesses? I was reading some reviews on the painless kits and they don't sound so painless.

Nothing is going to be a super easy task if you're looking at replacing an entire wiring harness. Just going to need patience and time, but if you are comfortable with the multimeter and tracing a few wires, you should be able to save yourself a lot of money.

Your speedo cable might just be broken inside the plastic tubing. There is a metal cable inside that spins. Take it loose from the transmission and have a friend spin the side that connects into the speedometer and see if the side that connects to the trans is spinning.

Threaded line behind the oil pressure gauge should be for an oil pressure line. Most aftermarket gauge sets come with them, and a universal line install kit should have them separately. Might get lucky and find one in a junkyard.

Thanks for the help on the speedometer cable. Got that fixed and looks like that also fixed the odometer. Check out the pictures of the cable. Someone soldered the two cables together and cut a pvc pipe to allow for that portion to spin!

I was able to get the blinkers, headlights, brake lights and it looks like the thermostat is working. I drove around a bunch today and it would start at a low temp and slowly rise but never got to the direct middle or higher.

I still need to get the battery gauge, oil pressure, and fuel level figured out.

Started looking into the remaining gauges that are not working. Still need to figure out Battery, Oil Pressure, and Fuel.

I replaced the oil pressure sender unit but that didn't fix it. So I hooked up a cable tracer and it looks like the cable does not plug into the cluster. This is what it is plugged into and there are two more wires going elsewhere. Any tips on this would be great.

The Fuel gauge wire goes into the cluster. When I was tracking it the cable tracer would only work if I grounded one of the two alligator clamps to the body. Does that mean It is not grounded at the tank?

So I found a picture of another gauge cluster. This one has a spot to plug in the plug I found behind my dash. I am wondering if I have the wrong gauge cluster in the van. You think I should pick one up at a salvage yard and swap it in and see if it works?
