Hey folks,

I've got an issue with my Rally van where it keeps locking and unlocking itself while parked. I have no clue how long this has been going on for, I just noticed that it was cycling through the locks from my apartment window, the lights would flash and it would unlock, and sometimes relock with no set rhythm to it. Is this something anyone here has experienced? Know a fix?

Thanks!

Is it activated by a remote to lock and unlock outside of the van?

It shouldn't be, unless someone is playing a really elaborate prank on me. I don't have a remote for it.

Probably should pull whatever fuse powers the lock circuit until you determine the cause.

I have a 92 Chevy that keeps locking ..after I start the van and start to drive every 30 45 sec it relocks itself. While its sitting no problem.

Thanks all,

I pulled the power lock circuit breaker on the fuse box, that may be the culprit itself. Manual locks for now.

Interesting.

I have a '94 F-150 that used to lock it's own doors, but it never unlocked them by itself.
That problem was due to damaged insulation causing a short to ground in the door.

The fact that yours locks also (and that the lights blink) leads me to believe that there's an issue with either an aftermarket alarm or keyless entry system.
Did any of our G vans come with keyless entry from the factory?
The only ones I've ever seen were conversion vans, so I think those were aftermarket systems also.

Anyway, locking and unlocking are two separate functions, so if it's toggling back and forth between locked and unlocked then there's something going on at the controls.
I'd check for an aftermarket alarm or keyless entry controller and disable that if there is one.

Failing that...
I'd check for ghosts.
LOL

+1 on wire insulation being stripped somewhere causing the wire to arc/ground. That's my guess anyway.

Only other guess would be a remote key fob. I sometimes leave the key fob to my 2000 Astro in my pocket and trip the locks by accident. I know you said you didn't have a remote, but maybe the evil previous owner still has it and wants his van back, so he's trying to make you think it's possessed. lol

My 93 kept doing that...locking...unlocking...parking lights flashing. It's part of the Goodwrench security system that was installed on my van at the dealer. I found the fuse that powers the security system and pulled it. No more issues and my locks work fine using the door switches.
