I recently saw a sweet vintage overhead CB console in a mid Ford. I really like the style of it instead of my overhead console. I was thinking about removing mine anyway.

I already asked the owner about it and he said it was a vintage one from a swap.

I have scoured all over the off road forums and even vintage surplus police console with no luck on finding something similar. Even the current universal CB consoles for big rigs and the like are meant to be mounted on the center hump of the car floor.

There is an overhead blue console I have in my van, but I think it may be too cracked to use again.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Would you ever attempt to try and make one yourself out of fiberglass? Easier said than done but you could customize it exactly to your needs instead of hoping to find an old cracked one.

I had something like that in a 86 GMC Safari …. might be able to mod it to fit your roof

I'm going to give a go at repairing mine this weekend, but I'm not confident in it. I'd like to try and find one before I think about trying to make one from fibergass.

As long as the surface is flat, I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Do you have any pics? Is it a factory set up?

Kurt Collis (sp?) has fiberglass overheads for about every make and model. He just recently shared some he had finished up on Facebook too, he's definitely the one to talk to about pre-made glass.

Wood will probably be next to impossible to find pre-made to your liking unless you have a good friend that can help or you're handy with the tools to build your own. I'm planning on attempting mine for the Q.A.R. out of wood and if I just can't get it to come out how I want, I'll buy a glass one from Kurt.

I don't know if I want a full width console, but maybe he does have something that would work.

Thank you, man. I'm pleased with how it is coming along. I have some more things to do on Saturday, big things.
