I may have come across a super clean 1995 G10 Shorty and a good price.
Question: What is involved with changing the grill and head lights to look like a 71' =75' and estimated costs ?
Thanks guys. I may be looking at it tomorrow.

Don’t forget you need bumpers and brackets, rear tail light bezels and lenses, side markers too. You’ll need a rear door as well since the 78+ has the plate in the bumper and 71-77 doors, plates were recessed. 71-75 had no added body line so it’ll be an easy spot that it’s a grill swap since the 95 will have that body line plus on the doors too but it should look the way you want, it’s just a lot of work if you want it to be a spot on 71-75.
It took me about 9 months to piece together everything for my grill swap. It was much easier but I looked for complete vans that I could take everything part and piece from.

Excuse my ignorance bro; what do you mean by Full core support ? I saw a video on line awhile back and I don't believe you had to mod the radiator or engine components.............the 95' has air..........is this correct ??
Also could you just do the rear bumper and do something custom with the mounting of the license plate ? The van is really straight and clean. You have skills bro and I value your opinion. Would customizing the stock rear door work for the license frame mount or customizing an actual rear 71-75 bumper ?

Thank you Sir....................thank you very much. | | | Re: My search for a 71'-75' G10 May turn into a 1995 G10 | Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 763 Likes: 50 old hand | old hand Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 763 Likes: 50 | you can do the grill swap without changing the whole core support, you just have to make some new holes and cut things off and such. the bumpers are getting hard to find and I am not sure if I have seen a grill swap without changing to the smaller bumpers, but they don't have to be changed. if you don't change the rear bumper, the plate doesn't have to be moved to the door. if you do change the bumper, making a recess in the door would not be too difficult for anyone with some welding skills. Find some pre 85 taillights (and the trim if you can find it) and install those, they look so much better. the body line that DeathorVictory mentioned started in 77, but was not on the driver or passenger door. they started that around 85. it adds a bit of rigidity to the doors.
the 95 would be a great gig for you. That should be OBD-1 system (OBD-2 started in 96), have overdrive, plus have AC. who cares that it isn't a 'true' 70's van? make it how you want and enjoy the comforts of a dependable cush ride! | | | Re: My search for a 71'-75' G10 May turn into a 1995 G10 | Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 11,241 Likes: 412 Post Junkie | OP Post Junkie Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 11,241 Likes: 412 | NEmery..................................................Thanks for the words of support. I found a " PRIMO " 1973; however it has a inline 6 and 3 on the tree; he wants BIG Money...................then the 1995 wants $12,500.00 and the odometer reads 258,000 miles; he seems like a cool guy and said previous owner did rebuild on motor & trans around 198K miles;.....no documrntation. The van looks straight & interior cool; however not my cup of tea and would be changing out to look like my 1971 I had in the day.
He seems legit. He is a mechanic and has positive reviews on him and his shop. I'm torn between searching for the right 1971-1975 G10 Shorty vs this 95. If I get the 95' I would definitely do the Front bumper.
Thanka SDMickey

Thanks again | | | Re: My search for a 71'-75' G10 May turn into a 1995 G10 | Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 11,241 Likes: 412 Post Junkie | OP Post Junkie Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 11,241 Likes: 412 | Wow........................went on line; only found one on Ebay and he wants $350.00. Still needs to be pounded out to become 100% and then chromed.................$$$$$,,,,,no doubt. Then I would assume the hunt for bolts and brackets ? | | | Re: My search for a 71'-75' G10 May turn into a 1995 G10 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 559 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 559 | "1995 wants $12,500.00 and the odometer reads 258,000 miles"
Hey Mickey that's what I paid for my 93 4x … I paid 6 grand for my 92 unless he has a brick of gold in the back 12.5 is a little high. You are in such a hurry to get a van that some one is gonna take advantage of you...… be careful !
