Still truckin' away on practicing with my airbrush. I want to eventually get to the point where I am comfortable doing some really nice murals for vans or whatever. I've done lots of flame paint jobs and stuff when I was younger, but I never really got into doing mural work. I'm not very pleased with how it's coming out so far, but I do feel like I'm making some progress at least.
This was my first attempt at a mural. It's just Createx paints on 8.5x11 bristol board, which is like an extra thick art paper, or cardstock. I used some hand cut stencils, but it took away the natural look of the whole thing. I also feel like I put the colors on a bit too heavy, which dulled the whole thing down. All part of learning I suppose.
This was my second attempt. I tried freehanding more this time and lighter coats of paint. It's coming out much better so far, but I still feel like I'm going to need way more practice to be at a level that I am pleased with. I had to stop with what I have so far and order some more paints. The white I was trying to use was a diluted craft store acrylic, but the reducer was causing the underlying colors to bleed a bit. So I ordered a few more colors from Createx and will finish this one up when they arrive.
I also knocked out this little birdhouse really quick for my wife's grandma. She was getting ready to hang it up the other day, but it was spray bombed flat black, and I thought I could brighten it up a bit for her. Hope she's happy with it. They've been going through some super rough times lately health wise, so we've been trying to help them with things where we can.
I'll update more as I knock out more practice work.
