Been running DOT 3 forever and have been happy with it. NOTE:: We are still running original parts on our calipers - not yet rebuilt. Master now has new internals.

Anyway, read that 3 and 4 were pretty similar except that if you went up to 4 you cannot go back to three??

Had 5 suggested due to lack of water absorption but have read that the water then just sits somewhere else in the system - think I'd rather it just distribute itself amongst the fluid if that is the case.

Just curious what you all are using?

I just use DOT 3 supertech from Wal-Mart. There are also more expensive brands like Pentosin, ATE, Amzoil, Redline.. As you work up DOT 4 and 5 some brands offer a lower viscosity formula. For example, you'll have noticeably better brake or clutch (if hydraulic) performance in cold weather. Detrimental? Probably not. Higher end brake fluid if you're a track day racer.

Thanks GVANFAN I usually go with Supertech Dot 3 as well. Opted to continue with that after reading about problems with 5 and don't need the increased heat rating of 4. Gonna stick with the original.

I believe DOT 3 and DOT 4 are interchangeable, however if going with DOT 5 (which I think is synthetic) the whole system needs to be flushed & cleaned first.
