The TA's seem to have more road noise also. The best tires I ever ran on the van were Remington XT-120's. Remington discontinued that tire about 15 years ago. I run Cooper Discover's AT3 on all my Tahoe's and Blazer's and get great mileage and they go good in the snow, but they are a whole different tire tread design. | | | Re: Looking for my 77 chopped van | Joined: May 2018 Posts: 2,397 Likes: 64 veteran | veteran Joined: May 2018 Posts: 2,397 Likes: 64 | I think the coppers are acceptable.

I did not like my BF Goodrich on my van or truck (Rugged Trail). They dry rotted faster and had worse traction. Went to Coopers AT3 on the truck. Far better.

At the time BFG TA's were a limited production run every so many months, like only once a year, so when you buy TA's from a shop the tires may of been laying in inventory for a couple years. 10 years ago when I put TA's on my van, I called tire shops all over western PA and found one that had the size I wanted, when he brought them out to install, I ask to check the manufacture date on the tire, they were already 3 years old and had some fading from laying in the hot warehouse. At the shop I worked at, guys would bring their trucks in that had the BFG All Terrain on with half-tread left and say the vehicles would not hold the road on a wet day. Kelly tires were another noted for poor traction on wet road and snow. One thing is to keep tires properly inflated during summer and winter months. Personally, I thought the TA's looked much better on my van, but the ride and road noise they had, I didn't care for, and they were dry-rotting within 5 years. I have ran the Cooper Discoverer ATR and AT3 on all my 4x4 Tahoes and Blazers here in the mountains of PA for the last 40 years and usually get between 30,000 to 40,000 miles out of a set. Proper front-end alignment is also another thing to keep corrected, a vehicle will chew a set of tires up in no time when out of alignment. Back in the old days you could actually buy tires that were specifically summer tread, now all the tires made are all-season or all-weather tread which definitely affects the ride you will get cruising down the road. | | | Re: Looking for my 77 chopped van | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 559 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 559 | HIJACK ! ! this tread is about looking for a van not tires …...

Its the top one on this post a later guy added a surfboard to the top. We heard from someone it was in ohio, then sold but the guy paid in counterfeit cash, and the van vanished. So not holding out allot of hope. | | |
