I am brand new to the Vanning website and thought I'd share my van with you all. I've had many classic cars in the past (mostly chevy trucks) and, while I really don't consider my van to be classic, it's all I have left. Sold everything else. I used to post on the 67-72chevytruck website a lot in the past.
The story is a little long-winded so feel free to skip to pics if you're not interested. But I thought I would start from the beginning.
I bought this van in 2015 for my wife as a surprise. She has a ceramic business and needed something that could haul her products to and from shows. Being a classic car guy, I needed something older that I could handle looking at. So I bought it, painted it, and then surprised her with it when I picked her up at the airport one day (pic below). Since then I have installed a new engine, had the rear end re-built, front suspension all rebuilt, and basically everything mechanical replaced except the transmission. I replaced all the door seals and window seals as well. The van runs and drives like new.
We just moved from Portland, OR to Chicago, IL this past year so the van REALLY stands out now. Especially since these vans have all but rusted away over here. Naturally, mine doesn't have a drop of rust on it so people are always looking at it in shock. Haha.
When I first bought it, I still had my little short box chevy (pic below) and I honestly didn't even really care about the van. I just wanted it to look decent for my wife. So I didn't fair the body at all when it was painted. Luckily the van was pretty straight as it was, but now I wish I would've spent some time doing some body work. The van really has grown on me and I am really excited to continue the build!
This first pic is from this past summer towing my 1954 Aloha camper from Oregon to Illinois and what she currently looks like. And here are a couple pics in the paint booth getting prepped. My surprised wife at the airport. Getting Paint. I am a marine mechanic and we had some leftover Awlgrip paint, so we sprayed it Fleet White. Random parking lot pic with new tread on the wheels. I like the old school poverty cap look: Parked off HWY 101 in Oregon on the way to our favorite camping spot: And a shot of one my classic trucks I used to have. I built this one from the frame up:
Anyway, I am happy to be here and look forward to everyone's projects!
Thanks,
Cort

That's a pretty clean van man. Should be a good blank canvas to build on.
I'm in love with that early squarebody. GORGEOUS! I used to be on 67-72 chevy truck forum as well. Haven't been on there in a long time. Keep us posted on the van for sure.
