I bought crate light truck ..350 for $1800 a couple years ago and paid a shop $1000 to put it in. Probably a little more now. And you'd need the v8 manifolds and distributor . Bought it from Jegs. The guy had it done in 3 days. Drove it 500 miles around the country side for a couple weeks and took off for California for a month on the road.

Jegs does run sales on the blueprint motor and that would be a great route, I have 3 small blocks now that are garbage. Buying used is not a good option unless you here it run in the vehicle and see all the vitals like oil pressure and temp.

Thanks for all of the advice! Keep it coming! I am looking around both online and locally here in New Jersey for engine options. Someone told me that the 4.3 liter motors that come out of Astro vans may even be a solid replacement if I chose to not swap in a 305 or 350.

That depends on the year. The 4.3 went through many changes over the years, including the addition of a balance shaft somewhere along the line. 1994 to '96 I believe was the timeframe. The people to turn to if you want solid answers would be an S10 forum. Astro, S10, full-size pickups, Monte Carlo, Caprice, are all good sources to find 4.3 V6. Head gaskets are NOT a common issue with these engines. Does yours have TBI or is it carbureted?

My pleasure. Not sure if it's compatible though. Hope you can pull it off, it's a van worth keeping up. 👍 It's definitely a looker!
