I love going back to the start of a really long build thread and watching everything take shape and then see the final result. Its always awesome!

That thing came out awesome. The pics don't really do it justice though. When you see the articulation in the video on Facebook, it seems even cooler.

Thanks you all!

On to the next project! I am using the Bellevue/Rally STX upper interior trim because of how nicely they form against the headliner and trim out the corners and odd places where it would be hard to build a custom piece. On the 2 rear upper pieces, there is a place where a speaker (5x7?) would go. I am running 6.5" speakers in marine ski tower pods mounted to the walls, so those aren't needed anymore and I wanted to do something cool with the space.

I found these cool little "simulated flame" LED lights on amazon and took a gamble. They are battery powered, but charge via USB. This is cool because they can charge when the van is running, or plugged in, but these little things will go for over 10 hours on a charge in my testing. They can do a "flame" simulation, or can be bright lights if needed.. I made some little brackets to mount them out of plastic sheet and super glued them in.

Anyways, I will have 2 mini-fireplaces in the back of the van by the bed. I am still working on the covers, but they are smoked plexiglass "windows" which will be painted on the backside to hide everything except for the "fire" itself. This is turning out way better than I hoped it would. I was going to wait to share in case it flopped, but I couldn't wait anymore.

Here is what the original part looks like. Trimmed to fit around the wall structure, but otherwise mounted in place. You can also see the mock up for the tray table that I'm building for that corner.

This is after I cut out the grille, and assembled the basic bracket. The bracket is just ABS sheet that was heated, bent, and trimmed to fit. It was then super-glued into place. These back corner panels are plastic also, so super glue should be plenty to permanently bond it. The light is held with 3M double sick tape and a simple zip tie just in case. There will also be an aluminum shield/reflector which I'm still working on that will help reflect the light and hold everything in place (you can see it mocked up in later pics)

Here is the front side

And here is the finished piece (minus the smoked cover). Wrapped in black vinyl to match the rest of the interior. The effect is really neat. Now to do the other side...

Here are a couple facebook videos of the "simulated fire" so you can get the idea of how it looks working. It's obviously not real fire, but really looks pretty real for what it is. I was impressed.

Pretty cool! What did you paint those trim pieces with?
