I just had my final conversation (I hope) with CJ Pony Parts. To get a hold of anyone on the phone is insane. It is taking too long for a replacement on that HEI. I am just going to put in a distributor and throw in a Pertronix that I have new in the box instead and be done with it. Which now means new wires and re-gap the plugs, but hey, I can also have the whole front reassembled, aside from the grille, this weekend once that is done so that is one thing out of the way.

I'm glad you said that before I ended up buying anything from them down the road. I had recently come across their page and bookmarked it to look at later. Sucks going through this crap with so many suppliers these days. Everyone wants to make a buck, but so few want to back up their product.

I mean, don't get me wrong, all the parts I have gotten from them have been great. The only one I had issue with was this HEI. I think for anything like that I will just keep going through Summit Racing. They're over the hill in Reno and I usually get parts next day with the regular shipping. I have a Tognotti's shop here in town which has everything for the looks I'm going for (high chrome Cal Custom style job) and it is all at my finger tips that day by just walking in.
Here's a plus, my refund from CJ just hit my paypal. I'll take it.

I don't have too much to report as I was sick this last weekend and wasn't able to work on the van. This weekend I am heading to a larger swap about two hours away to see what I can find for the van. I ordered a wing and flares from Van Accessories Direct. It should take about three weeks to get them as they are being made up. I also bit the bullet and spent a bit of money on some more chrome parts for the engine. It will really help to clean it up and make it look better inside.
My NOS Sparkomatic wedge speakers showed up today. I already have a similar set of wedge Sparkomatic speakers in the van. They're a bit crusty for being NOS, their box pretty much fell apart in my hands from being exposed to a lot of moisture. All the mounting hardware is rusted like crazy and there is some rust on the speakers inside, but I'll be able to test them from home to see what happens.
I think the ceiling behind the seats would be a good spot for them and I can relocate the smaller ones to the overhead console.
Also, I scored a nice CB today off Facebook Marketplace from a guy who bought out a CB shop that had closed down. It had been rewired for a cigarette plug in. She works when plugged in, I just need an antenna to test her out for real. Maybe next month.
I am working on an idea that I have for the hole in the dash. Once I know if it will work or not, I will detail it here. But I have a good feeling on it.

Sweet scores. I have a set of Craig wedge speakers like those that I scored at Goodwill last year for $1 for my 72 Chevelle.
That's awesome. We get thrifted to death out here in CA. It is the hip thing to do and stuff is too high priced or just gone. My brother goes and sees our grandpa in his tiny mountain town and finds all sorts of stuff at their thrift stores because they aren't hipstered to death.

My dad still can't believe that vintage KC HiLites and DayLites are in demand. He was laughing at how many times he just saw people throwing them away over the last 25 years, some still in the boxes.
Such is life.
*UPDATE*
I tested the speakers and aside from some gnarly fluffy mildew/growth on the speakers that falls off, they are good to go and sound good.

Not sure if you're still looking for a picture of the radio in that dash opening, but I just came across this on Facebook. Baja Charlie has a sweet 1 owner Econoline for sale over there, and it has the original radio plate in place.
