I tested the 2 switches with a continuity tester and they work. So the problem is somewhere else. I had a look with a magnifier and I'm wondering if some SMD is not missing. Will take a picture to show and have your thoughts. | | | Re: Central locking | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | My guess is since that's a 1996 remote, it's not going to work your 1987 van. Try finding a 1987 fob and program that to the van would be my next suggestion. | | | Re: Central locking | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | Now that I think about it, I don't even believe they offered a remote entry in 1987. I could be wrong, but I bet someone just stuck that fob on for a keychain. | | | Re: Central locking | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 2,964 Likes: 63 veteran | veteran Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 2,964 Likes: 63 | If it was a custom van built by one of the conversion companies back then, then sent to Chevrolet to sale, possibly the conversion company added the remote. | | | Re: Central locking | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | In 87 the guy bought the van brand new …. after getting stolen twice he decided to put a alarm on it … getting it off craigslist it died 3 days later and he never took it off his key chain.
And then he sold it to you ...

I don't think a conversion company could have time travelled to 1996 from 1987 to get that fob from the dealership, but I have been known to be wrong on ocassion. | | | Re: Central locking | Joined: Nov 2019 Posts: 50 Likes: 1 journeyman | OP journeyman Joined: Nov 2019 Posts: 50 Likes: 1 | Now that I think about it, I don't even believe they offered a remote entry in 1987. And then he sold it to you ... lol, interesting scenario... that key fob could be here for many reasons, without being of any help, right guys I'll try to look for a keyless entry system in the van. By the way, looking for GOH-MM6-101890 (from the back of the key fob) on google, brought a lot of answers with "similar" fobs. | | |
