So while we were doing the engine swap, my SPID (Service Parts Identification Decal) finally came off of the underside of the hood. I brought it home and scanned it to the computer. Figured I would start a thread in case anyone else has any questions or input. These (at least as new as 1982 which is the newest van I have) were the same as the 67-72 Chevy trucks. They will list off options codes and descriptions for what your van came with from the factory. Sometimes you will have an envelope or folded paper under the seat cushion listing the same info, but mine was long gone. Now that the SPID has come off the hood, I thought scanning it and translating it the best I can would be a good idea. There is a place that reprints them for the 67-72 Chevy truck crowd, using the original style decals and even the same font as the factory. I may get one reprinted at some time down the road, but I'm not going for a show van, so I might just make a new one for myself until I can afford it. Anyway, thought I would post the pics and links here, hope they help.

The decal that you can barely read is mine, then I translated what I could of it leaving the unrecognizable bits in red. The picture that looks really nice is an example SPID from the site linked above. Feel free to share yours if you want to just add to the info, or have questions.

this is pretty awesome. I need to replace my hood eventually, and would love to keep the look of having a factory decal.

On a Chevy or Mopar that decal is the way I determine if I want to buy it. I hate when they get blown off at a carwash, same with GM rpo codes.

When in doubt..get the sawzall out..

Yep, the one inside the glovebox on our 68 K10 was spray painted over, so I could never tell exactly what all options it came with. I cleaned a lot of the paint off using Q-tips and rubbing alcohol, but sadly most of the label came off too. That's the beginning of the vehicle's history, some really cool info. I had a 71 Cheyenne Super once that was painted black. Found out from the SPID and eventually some of the black chipping off, that its original colors were yellow and light olive green two tone. Hideous paint scheme, but total 70's, LOL!
