anybody out there ever put headers on a dodge 318?. .looking for recommendations but don't know what will fit best, tie in properly with exhaust, etc. thanks!

Put some on an my 85 and took them back off, so truck headers are a no go. I am looking to order small dodge rv headers, I am sure there are others ,but I know A body and truck headers are out on 79 and up.


When in doubt..get the sawzall out..

I thought headers became useful on higher revving engines, and useless and perhaps a detriment to engines that cant/wont rev high, like a stock 318.

I think on a stock 318 they would perhaps lower low end torque, and perhaps just become problematic with time, as most headers seem to do.

These headers will fit a van. Hedman Headers There is a ceramic coated version as well, twice as expensive but would be much more durable.
Any headers you'll need to have a Y-pipe made (the stock y-pipe is actually horribly restrictive, you want to ditch that!), and new pipe and muffler back from that. Any exhaust shop can handle that.

I've considered for my van having a new exhaust made using the stock manifolds so I can keep noise down, new y-pipe and a 2 1/2" pipe instead of the stock 2 1/4". I feel like this would be nice from a noise standpoint, and the pipe would not be so large as to reduce back pressure and torque, while still adding a bit to the top end.
