I currently drive an astrovan and find it nearly perfect. Its a great "general purpose" machine for me but it lacks that "fun" factor.
So I want to try building a custom, late 70s early 80s 4x4 vandura conversion.
Possibly shortened and roof dropped (undecided)

I want it to be a tough/reliable work/adventure van and a bit of a beast (fun factor again)

Shortly after I was born, up into my teens my father always had vandura vans and I guess they rubbed off on me.

By trade im a welder and I know my way around an engine rather well. Beyond that... This is mostly new to me.

Im trying to choose a good year/model to base this project on.
Probably going with a crate muscle engine, possibly diesel.

Pros and cons of building it on a heavy duty truck frame (a little more research there) has to be tough as nails. (Able to pull full size trucks out of snowbanks or climb some nasty goat trails with no trouble)

Welcome! Be sure to post pics of your build when you decide to do it, most people here like pics.

Why is it that when I press 1 for English, I still can not understand the person on the other end????
