I just found this forum while looking for parts. Decided to sign up. I am hoping to find some tips, tricks, and research about my old van.
She is a 1972 Dodge B300 Sportsman Custom. My dad bought it brand new in 1972. I really was conceived in this van in 1977. I was brought home from the hospital in it (so first vehicle I ever rode in). So I have had it for a while. She is needing some work, and so I begin again on another wave of restoration. For about the 3rd time. Parts are tough to find, and I am reaching out for any advice and knowledge I can find.

Thanks, haha, I doubt they did have curtains LOL!
I ran across this forum while looking for recommendations. Signed up and introduced myself before I had a chance to search much about it here. I'm looking to replace my 16.5 inch stock wheels for something more practical with today's tire sizes. She sees a lot of dirt roads where I live. So I am looking for something tough and rugged. I like the old dish mag wheel look, with the oval holes, and would like to run BF goodrich K02 all terrain tires. Other than that, I am looking for most of the emergency brake parts, as well as other brake parts.
Thanks for the welcome aboard!

Welcome! First, let me get this out of the way...Deathorvictory, back in the "good ol days", curtains weren't really all that necessary, as a matter of fact, you never knew what you would see wandering around a van run. OK, now back to you. Glad you've joined us. Parts can be found, it's just a tad bit harder than it was a few years ago.

Starlord,
Thanks for the reply. That is what I am finding. I went through the motor a few years ago. She needed all new freeze plugs and rats had chewed up the vacuum hoses and wires. Got her running good. Now its the stopping that I need (kind of backwards I know). The front half of the E-brake cable snapped, and the shroud that bends the cable down and back is toast. I joined up thinking I will find some willing knowledgeable van dudes out there that have already explained some of the info I am looking for. Where to get parts, and which wheels I should get to change out these 16.5 wheels. The 72 B300 seems to be a rare bird though. Even info is hard to find. I am a member of a few other forums, and I like the connection to people who are into the same stuff as me. Thanks again for the welcome in. I have a feeling this will be a great resource. To pull from the hive mind, and collected knowledge of the vanning world is a great thing. My dad told me long ago, “put a tuffshed sign on it and call it a day”. He has always been good at reverse psychology.

Your wheels are 8 lug and they made 16.5” slots back in the day, some 15” but very rare. All modern 8 lug switched to 16” and you’ll have much better luck with those and better tire options. Many times 1 ton vans had larger brakes which is why the bigger wheels so 15” may not even be appropriate but not sure on that

Yep, Deathorvictory, looks like 8 lug 6.5” bolt pattern. Also I found (still need a few measurements to verify) for example the 94 2500 dodge truck takes a 16” wheel with 8 lugs that should work. I am sure there are plenty of other years. Getting closer to finding the wheels I need. This thing has massive drum breaks, so I doubt 15” will work. I am thinking new steel wheels is what I might get. I live out in the boonies where all the roads are dirt.

I am finding tons of info in this forum. Thanks everyone for the welcome.

Best of luck with your repairs. Very cool for you to keep it in the family and on the road.

Not sure what motor your van has but if you haven't perused this website, there are lots of parts for your van
