Hello there,

Is anyone able to tell me the u-joint size for the steering coupling shaft on a 1988 Chevy G20 (with power steering)?

Gm part number is #26013139
https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/auto-...eering-cat/steering-column-assembly-scat

As the part is discontinued I would like to rebuild the coupling shaft but I cannot find which u-joint size is used on either end.
The Acdelco spec for the steering box says input is a 0.720" 26 spline, but I cannot sind that size anywhere. Could it be a 26+4 spline (4 splines cut of for indexing) so the counterpart is a 9/16"-30???
And how about the other end? Is it a 3/4 DD?

THX for any help!

Ive seen people using a socket universal as the coupler … a 3/8 or 1/2.

I definitely wouldn't trust the ones made for ratchets. I've had so many of those break while using them one simple bolt removals, I'd be scared of trusting one to handle my steering. I have seen folks use them before too, but no thanks for me.

Summit offers some universal styles. I've seen a lot of other companies online sell them too. Especially for the rock crawler crowd who often need some custom sized units and heavy duty strength.
