Good morning all:
I recently did a tune-up on my '99; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, PVC, and air filter were all replaced.
All plugs were manually gapped to 0.040, firing order has been double-checked, cap and rotor are seated properly.
With a bit over 75K on the odometer, I think this was the first time anything has been done to the engine; the plug wires still had the wire loom on them, and the plugs were so bad I'm not sure how the van was even running at all, much less as well as it did. Air filter was almost completely clogged.
I am experiencing "pinging" under moderate to heavy acceleration.
I have been running 89 octane gas, but all I can find around here has the 10% ethanol in it, could the pinging be a result of the octane?
Are there any additives that could be added such as seafoam or Marvel Mystery Oil?
