Thank You to all veterans, past and present for the sacrifices you have made to protect our freedoms. My father was a Marine during WWII and the Korean War.

Thanks guys. Who all are vets on here?

I served Army National Guard 2000-2008. Iraq 2005 & 2007. Truck driver 88M MOS and Turret Gunner in Iraq. We actually ran the first entire company of gun trucks in the military as far as I know, in 2005. I miss a lot of it, not the bureaucratic nonsense, but I miss getting dirty in the field and screwing off with the guys.

Navy 75 - 77 did basic training in San Diego went to San Francisco for fire fighting N San Diego for welding.... got orders to Pearl Harbor DD950 (tin can).

After 3 months of war games we took off for a 18 month West Pac included Aust and New Zealand. 7 days after we got back I got out. Saw 11 over seas countries on a Cruise around the far east . Had a Chief that didn't like me N said "Your never getting ahead in my NAVY" so I got out.

But that cruise got me free medical for life ….. which came in handy in this leg thing im going thru now.

I'm in the same boat. Wife and I met in the military, she is still in, but I had to get out due to injuries. I've got a mile long list of medical conditions stemming from my combat tours now and have been out of work for a little over a year now due to declining health. Fighting social security for benefits, but since I'm 41 they don't want to cover anything. I do have some military disability which helps a lot, but I'm going through hoops trying to get that increased. The thing that finally put me out of work is severe gastrointestinal issues, which my family doc thinks is probably from exposure to burn pits in Iraq, but of course the V.A. doesn't want to own up to much of the problems from that. The people fighting them on it are calling it my generation's Agent Orange. I've lost a couple friends from Leukemia and Heart Problems that were young and in great health otherwise, probably from the burn pits as well.
