The exhaust is made from a set of headers cut off at the collector, reversed and rear facing and what were the collectors becoming the rear facing exhaust. That gives you eight echo chambers enhancing the sound. This was system was built by Bernie Meyer of Brownie Muffler in Fresno. Deathwish appears to have been under cover for years, bless the soul of whoever made the decision to keep it that way. By the way, the interior cloth is Cadillac body cloth. I bought two 56 yard bolts and used every bit of it. The only stitches are in the seats, welting and engine cover. All the rolls and pleats are stick and staple. That’s the way we homebuilders did it back in the day.
I still have the receipts from the build and will share any information and pictures I have. There is an anomaly in the paint color. The red and yellow Aerogloss lacquer stripes have morphed into the same colors or the flash has changed the appearance. The blue stipe appears to be just as I sprayed it.

I appreciate all the efforts made to find Deathwish and you posting the pictures sure helped in the effort. Now I know where it is and how it is and I’m very grateful to the entire Vanning community for their interest, dedication to the culture and support.

So cool to know this van has origins in the central valley. lots of really amazing vans built there including many from Visalia Vans. Brownie Muffler is still in business. My folks still live in Clovis which isnt too far from Friant.

I'd love to know more about "stick and staple". I love that thick pleated look but not sure how to acheive it.

I don’t know if there any instructions on line but I will try to put something up that show howya go about it. I was told “won’t last, staples will pull, etc etc etc. Well that interior was finished in 1983, and even though its covered in bondo dust and it 36 years old it looks like it held up. I don’t sew and I didn’t have a lot of money but I knew what I wanted and the only way to get there was do it myself. Hence the stick and staple method which really isn’t my idea but that of some really good old upholstery guys.
