Advice please? | Joined: May 2019 Posts: 6 stranger | OP stranger Joined: May 2019 Posts: 6 | So I’ve recently got myself a beauty of a 1989 Chevy G20, bare metal inside..through various sellers online I’ve got myself upholstered door panels, doghouse cover, dash pad, etc. My question is what’s the best way to install these? There’s no cutouts for switches or the speaker, just one piece, and the door panels go right to the bottom, not just that little quarter panel. Do I drill new holes with fasteners? Glue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks y’all | | | Re: Hey y’all! You can make your own cutouts for the speakers and such, just don't put them where the magnet will interfere with the window going down. As far as mounting, I think most of us have used screws to fasten them down, short deck screws will "self" drill.

Maybe allow a 1/4" on the backside, maximum. I would mark out where the screws should go (at regular intervals of maybe 8 - 10" around the panel), then use a scribe or pen to stick through the holes when it's positioned where you want it, so you know where the screws will go through, and then drill small pilot holes in those locations so the self-tapping screws will take hold easier. Also check on the back of the metal panels you're drilling into to make sure you're not unknowingly drilling into something important behind the metal like the window regulator mechanism, wiring or something similar. | | | Re: Hey y’all! Even drilling pilot holes with a drill bit may grab the material so just take extra care
