Today I hooked the brakes up. Steel crossover lines and front hoses. Then I scavenged parts from the 2wd front end and the pathfinder push pull steering and mocked up the new crossover steering setup. Still need to weld it. Looks like it will be great. Everything heavy or hard should be complete. Set the 78 exhaust under the 92. I'll need to take out a few inches after the muffler to clear the rear tires, but that can wait till it drives... put it on the rack I say..

Got some more work done today... wasn't interested in spending $700+ on brackets and pulleys for the big block, so I got a hold of KWiK Performance and eventually ordered the late generation adapter plates to mount my 5.7 serpentine setup the big block. Still a tight fit, but I can confirm that it does fit.

quick update... installed all new exhaust... 2.5 inch all the way compression os out. Extended pittman arm. Rebuilt power steering pump. Replaced power steering gearbox. Resealed both differentials. Installed new mirrors. Front driveshaft is in. Still working on getting rid of the stumble under load...slam on the throttle it dies... roll into it it runs fine. Try to power brake, it dies... any suggestions?

So.... time for another update... it was probably 5 or 6 weeks ago I started banging my head against the wall... van wouldn't run right... backfiring through carb. Checking carb, fuel filter, timing, etc. Finally found loose nuts on exhaust lifters rockers. Changed those out. Got better... somewhat. Van would die if you slammed the throttle, or put it under too much load.(power brake). Rechecked timing, rocker arms, carb. Nothing. Changed carb with a known good one. No change. Checked compression. Good. Vacuum. Behaving normally for 7000 ft. Vacuum leaks. None. Changed plugs again. No different. Last night I was talking with a buddy about our respective builds (he is building a drag S-10), and he said something about his ignition system. Dawned on both of us, old cap, rotor and coil. GM HE I. He told me to try the spare that came off his truck. Went out after work this morning and swapped back to my original carb, and put it on. Like night and day. Still need to undo the carb and timing tweaks from the fiddling, but it's frigging cold and we are supposed to get snowmageddon this Thanksgiving weekend. Possibly this afternoon.... such a relief.
