I have a Chevy g20 5.8 8cyl and I'm sure this can apply to more than just my engine. But I would like to install a tachometer so I can monitor my idle Rev and such. How would I go about that? Would I go off of a distributor or ignition coil? Thank you with any information you have for me.

is there a pigtail with an unused wire coming off of the coil? I think that there generally is on a GM TBI with no factory tach. that would be the tach wire.
