Ok, I own a 1991 G20 Chevy Conversion van. Conversion done by Aero out of Kansas City I think. It has a 5.7 / 350 engine with 700R4 transmission. It's "fuel injected" but more like TBI I believe. I have been dreaming of someday doing an LS swap like others here on this site. It's a dream right now. Last year I changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, radiator and heater core. I just can't see taking out an engine that runs ok just cause it's a dream of mine. When the engine goes out (just turned 100K this summer) I will look at doing an LS swap.

Is there anyone who has taken the stock air cleaner and used the K&N air cleaner? Did you or can you tell any difference?

Can I ask what you have done to your stock engine to either increase MPG or get a few more horses out of your engine without breaking any bank account.

Thanks
Bob

K&N filter might help a little bit. Exhaust would likely be a good idea too. You'll need it for the LS swap anyway, and if you do it right, it'll be an easy adjustment for the new motor.

Well, I knew and still know the family I bought the van from. The dad put a "thrush muffler" on the van 20 years ago. Someone cut off the "cat" and put in a straight pipe. Single exhaust.
I may dabble and get a K&N air filter.

It's my dream to find a 5.3 and do an LS swap like Jason AKA JAGI410 (amazing job and beautiful van)

I start to drool every time I go back and read your post and look at the pics you did of the swap. The one pic I am curious to see though is where you mounted the computer and how to wiring turned out.

I gotta tell ya man, the 5.3 completely changed the beast. I'm so in love with this thing. I've been helping a friend with his 82 4x4 Chevy van, and he has a healthy stock 350. Had my 305 ever run as nice as his, I may never have done the swap. But I'm so glad I did.

I mounted the computer under the battery. It's the perfect spot for it! I'll get some pics soon. I did all the wiring myself, it's really not difficult. The instructions on LT1swap.com were a huge help.

Hopefully you're coming up to Nats in Minnesota next year, you can see it in person!

I will be at Van Nats in Albert Lea MN. I would love to see the installation in person and ask more "why questions" along with "get ideas"

Really looking forward to the event. What part of MN are you located by/in?

Bob

Ok, sometimes I get on the Harley and make it into southern MN. I don't usually make it that far north! We'll see you at V/N

Hey Jason

I was going to ask you. Is your LS Swap is the 5.3 block from an truck (cast block) or is it out of a sports car (alum block)?

Would you suggest a cast block vs alum block? Is there a big weight difference? Just curious, I am looking for a 5.3 now, thanks!!!!

Bob
