Hi Vinnie, A Warm Welcome to you and the little Mrs to the Site!
I would do this in a Heartbeat. Perfect for my situation. Super find Sir. Definitely a DessertRat Van Man! I'll bet it's a Runner.
If you want a no maintenance cross country Daily, smooth and quiet and cool on the highway at 85, or a cool commuter in heavy traffic, probably not this unit?
I being Me, I'd offer $800, and have that Puppy on a trailer like yesterday! I like your Van!
A 6 cylinder Slant, 4speed. No automatic transmission to rebuild. Right there you are saving Thousands of $. Ca. Smog will be the biggest issue. I moved to Texas...
I have a 1988 B250 Safari conversion with a 318/A500 auto. 145K miles. I bought it from a tow yard in San Diego on a Lien sale.( no back DMV fees.) for $1000. My Guy at California Registration Services in El Cajon looked it up, I avoided $750 of back fees with the lien sale.
I agree with Reed on Smog. It will have a Cat, Pre OBD2, OBD1 smog. PIA, IMO. The modified motor will run clean and likely pass the Dyno testing, but passing the visual may be an issue if the test criteria includes it. Why out of state title makes sooo much sense for these vehicles.
Pics are in Readers Rides. Cool Van, but not very pretty. LOL. A local vehicle from Van Diego, it had New brakes on all 4. Ran like complete garbage. No way it would smog, Timing was waaaay out. Timed it, put on a temp sensor, cap rotor wires, didn't even need plugs. Tires wheels lug nuts wiper blades, a cable and a battery.
Yes I paid to ship it here, but lucked out on the dispatch, I gained a tow guy as a friend, in El Paso near me here. Shipping is a trip. Under a buck a mile is a decent price for shipping, as a rule of thumb. I wouldn't do it for any less. LOL.
DogVan has ongoing issues, but I have AAA and a cell phone. Nursing along with a weak trans, weak fuel pump, but the EFI 318 runs good. my 3rd 318.
It's a blast to load up the Dogs and tool around town and out on the wild Prairie around here. i'd do it all again in a heartbeat with your DessertRatVan Man!
So far 4 years of service here. Worth every penny.
Good Hunting!
