I know where I can get one out of an S-10 and my friend says there's one he knows of out of an Astro. Which would be better, and are there any things I should look for. Specs on rear end? 1992 GMC Safari EXT Thanks, Cody (Safari SS)

I do appreciate the closeness of vanners. I had this post up for a day and I already had help. I guess that's one reason I am into vannin at 19 years of age. I am working on getting my van: a 5.7L 350cu Engine Posi Rear End Black Paint Job Some sort of shift kit for my tranny and of course the "Bed" in the back Right Now: I have the 4.3 V6 Performace Enhancing Chip Spoiler "Killer Bass" Cragar Rims (not on for another week) Yokohoma Racing Tires NEWAYZ, I am going to start on my before and after website so you guys can all see my progress. Thanks, Cody *Safari SS*

I like the big chevys myself, but I have an 85 all window astro (not a bubbletop! LOL). I see what you mean about a 350. I recenty blew a head gasket on the 4.3. If the engine was NG, then I found a 350 4brl to "slip" into its place. But the old girl recovered w/ new gaskets and runs well. Sounds like you have a pretty nice project going. Good luck on it. Hope you can make an evant some time. Keep on vannin..................Pup | | | Re: Rear End #75068 March 01st 2002 1:42 am | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 319 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 319 | SafariSS have you been to http://www.astrosafari.org there are many v8s in there and would most likely have your rear end even in your part of the country LOL | | | Re: Rear End #75069 March 07th 2002 11:40 pm | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 6 stranger | stranger Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 6 | Hi Cody, When you get ready to go for the V-8 conversion, give me a call...that's our specialty, and we are not very far from you (Prince Albert, SK). Cheap? I'm in Binghamton n.Y. though...........Pup | | | Re: Rear End #75071 March 12th 2002 12:12 pm | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 9 stranger | OP stranger Joined: May 2001 Posts: 9 | Hey Racecraft, I am buying an '85 Astro with my friend for the rear end and other misc. parts. However I will want to get a posi rear end by Summer. Do you have one? My Gear Ratio right now is 3.42, do you suggest posi or what gear ratio do you think I should put in for racing? How much cdn? Thanks for the help. BTW: My friend needs the tranny out of the astro, that's why we're going half n half. The body isn't in that great of condition. But it's only got 100k on the engine. | | |
