What do you guys recommend for just street performance? The first names that come to mind are B&M Transmissions, TCI Transmissions and GM Performance Transmissions. Also what transmissions are you guys running in your GMC & Chevy vans? Thanks, for your help. B&M automatic transmissionsTCI transmissionsGM performance transmissions

Those are pretty stout transmissions in stock GM form, even better with shift kits. You can upgrade the torque converter to one from the TH400 for a bit more robust unit. Are you planning on putting lots of HP through it? One nice upgrade you could do is to go to a 700R4 for an overdrive. The 4L80E requires a computer to run it, which can add undo complexity to a simple solution.
Just my $.02

TH350 in my G van. Are you looking for a street/strip trans, fuel economy, overdrive interstate cruiser? All models of transmissions have ups and downs. Just have to find one that fits your specific wants and needs. | | | Re: Best Performance GM Automatic Transmission | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 206 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 206 | So, your running just the stock OEM transmission. No, upgrades or kits?

I like the idea of keeping the stock tranny and upgrading with a shift kit and torque converter. No, on putting a lot of horsepower to it. I am just going to keep it simple with no computers.
Thanks, for your $.02
