Hello Guys, this is Mark from Mcallen Texas

Im new on this van thing (now that i have family) I came from Ford Maverick/Ford F100 forums while single....Im in the market for a older Van and so far have 3 options:

90's G20-shorty, 178K miles, 5.7 TBI 4 speed All seats, average interior
85 GMC Vandura 56K miles, 350 - 3speed, mint interior, bench/bed on back, single seat middle and table.
91 G20 110K 5.7 TBI, 4 speed nice interior, missing middle seats

all 3 on the 5k range

I have NEVER drove a VAN, I need your advise on the engine transmission combo...I like the 85 but I not sure about carb/3 speed...any thoughts?..Im very familiar with 5.7 TBI on truck, but I dont know what to expect on a Van/Traveling mostly to Texas parks.

Thanks

Chances are you are most likely to find the 350 in the Chevy. I would say you would probably get better fuel mileage with the tbi over the carb version. That being said, you should get the one you like the best.

Why is it that when I press 1 for English, I still can not understand the person on the other end????

The later 94/95 TBI vans have much more advanced ECM. Its a common swap for the older tbi vans. One thing that is not so easy to swap is the electronic control transmissions that started about 93. I prefer those. You can set the shift points, converter lock up, ect. all with a free program. So my vote would be 93/95 van if possible. If the g20 shorty is not those years, but is still straight and clean, that would still be my favorite out of the three.
