If it's the master cylinder of a pair, it will have the vacuum actuated valve on it.

Some of the canisters I referenced earlier may have several hose connectors, but one may be plugged internally, requiring you to drill it out. I think that in our case, actuating the vacuum valve and seeing if you can blow through a pair of tubes is enough to identify the hoses necessary to get the system running.

If you look carefully you may find that the hoses aren't really the same size ends. Dodge made a really perverse hose for in their canister system, which was a different size at one end than the other. I had to make up a reducer when I replaced the rotted ancient hoses.

I've heard of several people cutting failed canisters open and replacing deteriorated carbon with aquarium filter carbon, and improvising the plastic bags which rotted away. As long as the bag material can withstand gasoline fumes, it could work. The carbon just acts as a sump for vapors. I'd probably try Aluminum or Brass screen in place of the polymer screens used in the originals. Epoxy does bind to the canister plastic.

I was looking at the old canister today, has 3 ports, stamped Purge - Fuel Tank - Carb Bowl. What I find confusing is the Carb Bowl port is capped or plugged, wouldn't that be the one that would vent the carb. The hose from my Carb Bowl is attached to the Purge port. Like I mentioned before, I know very little about carbs or evap systems. Also on the old canister the Purge Port is 1/4" and on the new one it is 5/16", I guess I will have to use a some kind of fitting to make the hose fit the bigger port.
