I have a 76 dodge b200 camper. I've been having fuel issues with it, pulled the gas tanked and cleaned it out. Checked my sending unit and its fried. Tried getting a replacement but nothing matches what I have. I have a plastic tank and my pick up/sending unit screws in. The only parts I can find are metal tanks and ring clamp pick ups. It's like what I have doesn't exist. Anyone seen this before?

Also the pick up I have has a return, there is no return line. It's just been blocked off.

Do you know how many gallons your tank holds? My initial thought It's possible it has one of the 32 gallon plastic tanks from a later van that someone swapped in.

I've seen where the vent hose, which typically runs off through the passenger side frame rail and just hangs, can become pinched and collapse, or have a spider or mud wasp move in and block it off. Did you replace that hose or ram it out?

Have you tried a new fuel cap? The vents in these can fail, then your fuel pump pulls a vacuum. You can try running with the cap partially unscrewed to see if it makes any improvement.

Are you sure your fuel lines running to the pump aren't full of crud or pinched off? I've also seen cases where people install a 2nd fuel filter in the fuel line, in the area under where the side cargo doors would be on a regular van. They act as a water trap...

Sending units identification and availability have always been a sore point. I agree with Richard's thought on the plastic tank coming from a different van, especially since you have a camper. For that matter, do you have an auxiliary tank? Those switchover valves can go bad.

These guys rebuild fuel gauge sending units.
Finding NOS will be difficult.
My 79 has a plastic tank, 32 gal.
And yes, I have an extra fuel filter cannister type right under cargo door area.
My pickup has a return that goes to charcoal canister if i remember correctly.
I had a high speed fuel starvation that was fixed by changing the canister fuel filter.
I also had incorrect fuel gauge readings that changing the sending unit did not fix. installed a solid state circuit board in dash and fuel gauge has been dead on since.
