The 318 was seized but I got her freed up. I've been working on the brakes and just started ripping the interior out yesterday day. I've done water pump, new gas tank, electric fuel pump, new fuel lines, carb rebuild, gm hei, new tires kinda. Where in Florida you about. | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 96 Likes: 1 journeyman | journeyman Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 96 Likes: 1 | Looks like a whole lotta work. It is a project though.

The 1978 Dodge uses the front sheetmetal of the 71-77 vans, but the 79-up dash and rear sheetmetal. The front suspension is unique to the 78 model year (I believe) but the dash parts are compatible with the 79-up parts and the sheetmetal is compatible with the 71-77 or 79-up depending on what you are working on.

I still have some quirks to work out such as pulling to one side with braking, dying off of idle, acceleration issues, and carb linkages. If anyone is down in Florida I would love to get some help. Beer and grass provided haha. Does anyone know where the cable links too and its purpose? https://ibb.co/tBpCtV8https://ibb.co/DkgBDFXhttps://ibb.co/Vjtg2cMhttps://ibb.co/gtVSZv4 | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 763 Likes: 50 old hand | old hand Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 763 Likes: 50 | Talk to the Orlando Street Vans guys. I am sure they have some knowledgeable guys that can help out! Josh with the Electric Boogaloo Van did a bunch of work to his, which i believe is a 77. | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 newbie | OP newbie Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 | I've talked to Josh but he's recently moved and busy with that. I text him regularly. Maybe even a dust mask and glasses. Could be screwed down in places potentially so I’d have cordless drill at the ready. But yeah, rip it out!

I replaced my carpet without wearing anything and my sinuses were screwed up for a good week or 2.

I might be getting a throttle body and ecm from a 92 firebird that the guy pulled off in favor of carb. I'd still have to get a wiring harness from the junkyard. | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 3,692 Likes: 32 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 3,692 Likes: 32 | No experience with a conversion, but one of the better TBI support forums is on thirdgen.org, supporting 3rd gen. F-bodies like the '92 Firebird that is your donor. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/ | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 newbie | OP newbie Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 | So I've started reworking the tbi harness, I've gotten rid of all the emissions stuff and trans control. I'm only reworking it for fuel and spark. I currently have the 4 pin module on it instead of the mopar ignition box so wiring will be easy on ignition side. I just got the tbi unit harness and ecm out off a 92 gmc Sierra. I'm gonna keep carb on it so I can try to make it to the meet next month. I just replaced the starter it was long over due, sometimes it work other times it just spins the starter clutch. I finally added a fuel pressure regulator and after all this she dont want to idle unless she's on the yellow cam. | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: May 2018 Posts: 2,397 Likes: 64 veteran | veteran Joined: May 2018 Posts: 2,397 Likes: 64 | thirdgen.org has some useful info, got answers on a tune port problem on that site.
When in doubt..get the sawzall out..

It doesn't want to idle. Does anyone have any initial settings for a carter bbd carb. Its 78 year. | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 12,107 Likes: 37 Maniac | Maniac Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 12,107 Likes: 37 | Carburetor rebuild and adjustment and operations manual is available for free download here: https://app.box.com/s/15dt5qav20ccxcnzp9e4Generic BBD settings can be found here:

It already rebuilt it few months ago and i had it running off of controlled flooding lmao. | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 newbie | OP newbie Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 | Alright so the van looks like it has a blown head gasket so I just ordered all the parts and ima tear into it on the 4th. I'm just gonna do the tbi swap then too. I got all the parts except for a knock sensor and temp and o2 sensor but since I'm gonna pull the head. I'll weld in the bung into the exhaust. | | | Re: My shaggin wagon build thread | Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 newbie | OP newbie Joined: May 2019 Posts: 33 | So in the meantime, I have gotten all the sensors and have finished trimming down the harness to everything I need but left enough on each wire I cut in case I wanted to add it on later. I still need to grab a lil check engine light to add but other than that she's done. I've tore into the engine and did the head gaskets, I dropped the head on the gasket and had to get a new felpro one but after that slip up she's all together except the manifold. I'm still cleaning it up to add all the sensors and modules. While I was pulling the exhaust. I went ahead and added a o2 bung. Autozone had to special order one so I grabbed a doorman help anti fouler, cut it in half and welded it in. Works perfect. https://ibb.co/hdYWgsBhttps://ibb.co/KrFwgN3https://ibb.co/Czg1PLjhttps://ibb.co/dKSbzvx
