Nope, the sand stays put. It's got a 3-inch high wall and the rear benches to keep it from sliding around. Everyone I mentioned using sand instead of sand colored shag carpet to told me not to do it because it would blow around. I was determined to make it work, so before pouring all 800 pounds of it in, I dumped a few bags on the floor and drove it down the highway. There just isn't enough airflow even at 70+ miles per hour to blow it around or create any dust :-) I have an insulated and wood subfloor to keep the sand from laying directly on the metal so metal corrosion from the sand is mitigated...I Hope.
The neighbors thought I was crazy when they saw me dumping the rest of the sand in the van LMAO. Now they love it.

Swivel seats are just seat covers, the next project is to have them upholstered in the same material. I wanted to see how well they held up and if I liked them long term, which I do :-D

So if you have to access something in the floor, what happens? Seems awesome though. Hmmmm, well good question. There were no access panels in the floor area I covered with subfloor and sand. I'm not sure I have to access anything through the floor behind the front seats. I guess if I do need to get to the floor I'll have to get the beach toy shovels and buckets and get the sand out LOL.
