No. The model is "Carter BBD." What you would be looking for, if it was still there, is a little red or green stamped tin tag that was put on one of the screws that holds the air horn to the main carb body. Finding these tags is a VERY rare event these days as they were very thin and usually broke off or were discarded the first time the carb was rebuilt.

All you have to do is make sure you use gaskets that match the holes in the carb body.

A 1976 BBD will have a brass float, but a failing float will not cause the problems you describe.

BBD repair and operation manual can be downloaded for free HERE.

Reed, thank you for such an informative link to info on the carb. One paragraph that caught my attention and sounds a lot like the problem I am having is " if outside bowl vent does not open to specifications with throttle valve seated, bowl vapors cannot escape freely and this may cause "hard-hot-starting"

Happy to help. Like I say, the BBD is a very simple and easy carb to rebuild and adjust. Rebuild kits are fairly cheap and readily available and come with instructions on how to set all the adjustments, including the bowl vent valve.

Nearly 2 years later and I still haven't found the time to get the carb looked at, life is so busy for being retired, grandkids, taking care of my house, my mom's house and FIL house, and maintaining my daily driver's. I found an older gentleman who is a retired mechanic and I remember in the 70's he always ran Cuda's and Challenger's. He still does some repair work at his house. What would be a good brand rebuild kit for the carb.

Standard Motor Products is pretty much the only source for rebuild kits nowadays.
