***MODS: I know this is a Chevy, but it's also more of a general condition/price thread, so I'd like to get everyone's opinion if possible***
'93 Chevy G10, 4.3 V6, 4 speed auto, air, etc. Local to me and he says everything works. I can test drive soon. The odometer shows 228K but "the P.O. replaced the engine"...yeah...no proof. Solid body with dent on RR and drivers door seems to have been over extended. Grill is busted a little. Front bumper bent. Old decals everywhere. Minor scratches and dings. But body is solid; no rust or cancer. Sills are good, inner fenders, fender lips, etc. Drivers seat torn all to hell (don't car.....junkyard Captains chairs will fix that). Will need some door rubber (easy). Rear latches seem busted but doors close and latch.
None of that stuff bothered me until I lifted the carpet in the cargo area. Rusted through in the only spot I looked at. That's bad, but repairs could be made and wouldn't have to be pretty. Nobody would ever see them. All rockers, body panels, frame rails, etc., are good.
I'm having a hard time finding a shorty van in my area and anything I find online quickly escalates in price when I factor in shipping. I think if I can get this for $400 or $500, I can just pull it out back and work on it over time.
Would you take a chance on a beat up old G10 for $500?
Hard to say if not in person. But try it out. If it sounds good (enough), then why not? For 500 dollar... even if it will be kind of a project, having a base for 500, I personally would do it. More evn, if you don't need it as your regular driver right away, I would do it.
Looks not too shabby on the outside. If you are good at welding that floor is probably an patch to do. Personally I'd go for one with no windows but that could be a cool van for cheap
No dont think I would ... I like work but not that much...
