Check for bad grounds first. Most of them were for the same p2646 rocker arm, a couple were from the last time we replaced the battery and I forgot to clear those DOH!. Just took it for an oil change and then cleared all the codes, drove about 10 miles on the way home and seems to be all better now. Cross your fingers for me. | | | Re: Queen Anne's Revenge | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | OP veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | Aside from scoring parts (see the junkyard thread), I haven't really done much to her in a while. When Mia and I hooked up the trans, we had the torque converter in a bind, so the driver side wouldn't bolt all the way down. I unbolted the trans the other day and slid it back, monkeyed around with the torque converter for a bit until I could get it in all the way. Bolted the trans up and that's where I left her. The kids are staying with my mom and as always I'm bored out of my skull when they aren't here. So I've been tinkering on the van. Got the exhaust manifolds on, that wasn't much fun as some mud daubers (bees) had packed the bolt holes with mud. Got them all cleaned out and now I'm covered in anti-seize looking like the Tin Man. Alternator is wired up, distributor is in and wired, but I've misplaced the distributor gasket somewhere. I'll grab one tomorrow at the parts store as well as some flywheel bolts as I've misplaced mine of course. They're even in a labeled zip lock wherever they're hiding. I'm having a hell of a time getting the starter wires to the starter. No matter which way I try to route them, I'm coming up an inch or two short of reaching the starter. UGH! So I took a break to look over all the in progress pics during the engine swap and thought I'd go ahead and post a progress update while I'm at the PC. *EDIT* Found it, they drop down through the exhaust manifold on the passenger rear. I wouldn't think they would have routed the wiring there due to heat, but sure enough, that's where they were before. Hopefully she will breathe soon thank goodness. Longest engine swap EVER!

I am doing an engine swap on my chop so I feel your pain about taking a while and figuring out if I can get it all back together! | | | Re: Queen Anne's Revenge | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | OP veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | Well I got it all ready for a quick test fire. Just need to install plugs and wires. Went to grab the battery out of my blue XJ, can't find the key ring for the Jeep. Looked everywhere, then I noticed one of the girls locked my gardening shed when we were working in the yard this morning. I usually sit the keyring with the lock on it just inside the door, so she must have took the lock off the keyring, sat the ring of keys back in there, then put the padlock on the shed door. UGH! Off to the hardware store for some bolt cutters tomorrow I suppose. Been wanting some for a long time anyway, just never pulled the trigger on buying any. | | | Re: Queen Anne's Revenge | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | OP veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | Got the plugs and wires on today. Battery connected. Went for a test fire, nothing. Flooded it out at first, so let it sit for a while. Went back at it, lots of cranking, but no pops or anything. Slapped a little test light on the #6 plug and wire, getting a light every time it hits that cylinder. Tried rotating the distributor 180 degrees, still nothing. Plenty go juice, plenty electromicity, no wiring letting smoke out anywhere, but no vroom vroom noises. I'm stumped and tired as can be, maybe the solution will come with some sleep. | | | Re: Queen Anne's Revenge | Joined: Aug 2017 Posts: 1,061 Likes: 47 old hand | old hand Joined: Aug 2017 Posts: 1,061 Likes: 47 | Fuel delivery? Not sure if you got something plugged up somewhere, fuel line/carb/etc.? Just spitballin' | | | Re: Queen Anne's Revenge | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | OP veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | Fuel delivery? Not sure if you got something plugged up somewhere, fuel line/carb/etc.? Just spitballin' I haven't poked my head over the carb yet, but it definitely sounded like she was squurting fuel when pumped. I'm thinking the distributor isn't getting enough voltage on the 12V lead, but I'm heading to TX to pin my wife with her long overdue E6 / Staff Sergeant this weekend, so I'll give it a more thorough look when I get back next week. | | | Re: Queen Anne's Revenge | Joined: Mar 2021 Posts: 208 Likes: 35 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Mar 2021 Posts: 208 Likes: 35 | Just caught up on the van.
