Hey people, I own a 04 GMC savana 3500 extended body. I scored some closed cell foam salvaged from a gymnasium floor. It is 1 3/8" thick which is same as ribs/supports on my van and have an R value of I think 9 but def more than board or fiberglass. I have a few questions I'm hoping people can help me out with weather just started warming up here in new england so I'm eager to get started. pics to follow

1) Before installing the foam someone mentioned a vapor barrier?? I've been told they are a bad idea depending on what you read can anyone tell me if I should spray glue one to body before installing insulation??

2) would a sheet of mylar against body before insulation facing the exterior be a good idea than figured I could glue some facing the interior on back of finished wall to keep heat in in the winter cuz I live in New England. waste of money? bad idea for some reason I'm not aware of?

3) I'm concerned about the vapor barrier but 2 cases of flex seal spray did fall off a truck in front of me but I couldn't catch him to give it back and was going to spray entire insides with as thick a coat as possible for dampening but will that keep me from need for a vapor barrier? or is the flex seal a bad idea itself I don't see why I have tested it and it does dampen the panels pretty well.

4) Im going to glue the foam with spray foam insulation and do supports with it as well. bad idea? good idea? I've built plenty of kick ass sound systems and have 2 memphis amps for this when the time comes ( I love Memphis IMO best made amps hands down) but never did all this work and dont want my walls rusting out when I cant see em. or making a fatal error so any advice peo[ple want to offer would very be much appreciated.

Thanks Guys
St. Paddy

You may want to move this to the Chevy section.
