I have an 85 and it only looks like the front clip is different. I am planning to fill the windows in on my 73 Chevy because the factory pop outs are junk and no parts to be found new or used.
When in doubt..get the sawzall out..

I am in the process of cutting out panels to do the same thing.

The later vans got much thinner, like 0.015" or so.
This caused me a big headache when I did away with a large conversion window on my 81 Dodge. I had to make a custom flanging tool to get the correct depth of flange to provide a smooth surface transition with my filler panel.
