If filling a bay window hole in a 77 Dodge will a patch panel match from a 1971 to 2003 Dodge or would it have to be from 1971-1978?

Good question I am thinking 71-78. I have an 85 and it only looks like the front clip is different. I am planning to fill the windows in on my 73 Chevy because the factory pop outs are junk and no parts to be found new or used.

I had to replace door panels on my 77 and doors up to 2003 would work and I think side panels will but not sure and it’s a lot easier to find 95-2003 vans in junk yards than 71-78

I am pretty sure the side panels are all identical. I am in the process of cutting out panels to do the same thing.

I'll chime in a good bit late to the party here, but it really could stand to be documented that the Dodge body panel metal is of different gauge between that great a span of years. The later vans got much thinner, like 0.015" or so.

This caused me a big headache when I did away with a large conversion window on my 81 Dodge. I had to make a custom flanging tool to get the correct depth of flange to provide a smooth surface transition with my filler panel.

You know I bought a ton of new sheet metal for my 73 g van, it is for a 78 and up I bet it is thinner too.
