I just bought 2 vans. Want to turn them into camper vans with style. Chevy 1989 g20 Winnebago a and 2000Ford E350. They need work ofcourse. Having trouble on replacing window motor on the g20. | | | Re: New van dude | Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 2,286 Likes: 153 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 2,286 Likes: 153 | Hey Abby, Welcome to the Site! Hope you get your window fixed. Summer will be here soon and you're gonna want to roll that down when it gets hot ! Or...there's always the A/C but why use that when ya can enjoy fresh air and hear the birds chirping. Ah, the simple pleasures in life. 😊 | | | Re: New van dude | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 282 Likes: 18 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 282 Likes: 18 | You can get the power window motor lots of places so it is easy to find. It is a pain in the butt to change. Ask me how I know.
Logical thing is to disconnect battery but you are gonna need juice. Disconnect switch. Remove door panel. Reconnect switch. Keep window almost all the way up. Remove motor and the associated track parts. The window will likely slide down a bit. Install new motor but the track stuff will be in a different location. Get 1 or 2 bolts loosely where they belong but you probably will have to open and close window to allow other bolts to come into alignment. Insert remaining bolts and tighten things up.
I did one of mine and it looked like I had been in a one armed cat fight, lots of cuts and scratches. A week later the other side went out so I got to do it again. At least this time it was easier. | | | Re: New van dude | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 18,213 Likes: 2 Supreme Master | Supreme Master Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 18,213 Likes: 2 | aboard
