Cute.

But is this $9ks-worth of van? Just asking.

There's another black shorty project just posted, it's $4k. I thought that was too much, but fi $9k is a fair price here, then maybe $4k is OK too.

That is a very reasonable price for a 45K mile van in that shape, IMO. Try finding another one for that price. They are few and far between and becoming more so every year.

I sold my almost identical '78 short Chevy in Seattle 7 years ago for $7K and it had way more miles. It went quickly. That same van was well over $10K last I looked when the new owner sold it and it didn't last long.

I don't think it registers with a lot of folks that 1) they're not making these anymore and they'll do nothing but get more expensive and 2) a lot of folks have an out of date reference for price. Frankly any car with low miles in decent condition is worth $3 - $5K anymore. If it's collectible like these vans are, that just adds to the value. Vans like this are way harder to find in good condition than say, a Corvette of the same vintage, in this condition. They just got used up and thrown away.

I've seen many many vans of that era advertised with low miles. Most are not accurate or even close. Most of the time, if it's in good or fine condition, you can add 100K to whatever is shown on the odometer as they have usually turned over. And there is very little documentation to verify which is which. In this ad they're talking about a vehicle with less than 1100 miles per year for 40 years. As with any vehicle, a visual and hands on inspection can reveal the truth most times.

Looking at the pictures of this particular van, it appears (to me) to have had a lot of moisture damage in the cargo area. Under the hood there is damage to the doghouse insulation and possible rust in the firewall. The photos don't show at lot but some things can be seen. The general condition of the wiring that is visible and the badly worn spot in the floor mat where the drivers heel rested for "only" 45K miles for instance.

I agree that this is a great van to buy and maybe sink more cash into. I disagree that it's worth $9,000. A close inspect might give way to a van worth $5,000 but, with the work required to cruise, that would IMO be about tops. That's just my opinion and I'm no expert by far. Different parts of the country have different conditions. Here in my area they may be more plentiful and bring less than other areas.
