I see lots of threads about dual batteries, but is there really anything wrong with just having 2 batteries connected to a 1/2/both/off switch and nothing else? No isolator or breakers or anything like that.

I know that would mean its all manually switched but thats how it is on my boat and it works ok.
Would also serve as kind of a security feature if you could hide the switch.

If I dont care about it being all manual, is there really anything wrong with this setup?

Nope. Been using a manual switch since 2001. Only risk is human error. But automatic can lead to ignorant overconfidence.

Switches do.wear out eventually. How soon depends on the frequency and how much current was flowing when connection made or.broken.

I like the blue seas mini switch.
