I just bought a 1974 e200, to fix this thing seems like a huge challenge that I am not sure I am up for... Is there any place to get replacement parts for 2nd gen Econolines? My passenger headlight mounting area is completely rusted out and won't hold the headlight in place, the battery tray is rusted and falling down also.

Any ideas or ideas where to get parts?

Asking for a friend, should I just sell the van to someone else for parts? I don't have a garage to put it into and work on, and the van is ROUGH but it's redeeming quality is that is did take a 150 mile trip home, albeit a bit stinky and sketchy at times.

If there is no way to buy parts without donor vans then I am wondering if this is a loosing proposition. Any thoughts? Anyone need a van for parts (and has space for a whole van)?

I wish I could give you better advice.
I can say that old vans, especially old vans that need work, are a labor of love. As you probably already know. Parts are hard to find in decent shape, costs are not cheap and the work can be very time consuming. You'll most likely never recover any money invested. The joy is in the owning and driving.
In other words, if you don't feel the love, then it's best to pass it to someone that can use it.
If you're looking, then keep looking till you find one that speaks to you.

You can search the web for specific Econoline forums. Like these:

Thanks CatFish, much appreciate the advice. I was originally looking at 3rd gen Chevy/GMC because ease of parts, but this thing popped up and I jumped the gun because it was a thousand $. I love the look of 2nd gen econoline, but now I think I am going through an existential crisis if I am ready for THIS level of commitment.

Still have to get it registered, strip out the crusty/musty interior (was hoping for at least 40 degree weather for that task) and take it into a shop to check out some other issues (coolant, brakes, steering), so maybe they have a recommendation on how to mount the light back on or know someone else in town who can.
